Reception Venue - Check!

After a ton of research, several e-mails, a trip to Intramuros, and a trip to Roxas Boulevard, we finally have a reception venue. Yay! Aleq and I went and booked it the Sunday before last, on July 29.

Us on the rainy drive over

It was actually a very hectic Sunday for us, visiting my family from Canada at the Bayview Hotel, paying the boy's dad a visit at his office in Manila Bulletin Intramuros, meeting more family at Mall of Asia. Lucky for us, our reception venue was in the area and we were able to squeeze a meeting there in the midst of our busy day.

We chose the Pergola, which we visited when we went venue-hunting in Roxas Boulevard. It's the perfect blank canvass, and we think it's great that it's set up for a cozy, intimate gathering. We also like the amenities and the ample parking space, and the venue people were so accommodating and easy to talk to. Plus, it's the only venue we saw around the UST area that looked bright and modern. Anyway, it was such a quick visit for us that day. We talked a bit about the contract, paid the down payment to reserve the date, and that was that. It's so happening!

It only sunk in that this was it, we were done with our most important decisions, when we were chillin' at Starbucks Power Station afterwards. We've been very anxious this entire time, because the only church we wanted was UST and the only venue we liked was the Pergola. What if some other couple snatches the date we chose from us? Now, the race for booking the date with the church and venue is behind us. Whew.

  1. Hi Julls! :) I enjoyed reading your blog. It's been a big help since I'm also planning my wedding, pero sa 2015 pa naman. I'd just like to ask why didn't you avail of the all-in package of The Pergola? Mahal ba masyado or hindi sulit? My fiance and I are also thinking about booking them for our reception venue. Thanks in advance! Congrats and best wishes :)

    1. Hi Kimi! Thanks for not being too shy to comment! :) We didn't avail of the all-in package because it meant a set package with the caterer we chose. We won't be able to choose the flowers and decor, etc. with the package (the cheapest all in package) and we wanted more leeway when it comes to those things. It was also the cheapest package for the caterer, and we wanted more choices when it came to the food so we opted for a higher package from the caterer. We did consider getting the next all-in package but we also figured it would be much easier to just deal with the caterer and venue separately.

  2. I celebrated my happy day a few days ago. The reception venue I hired was much affordable as I booked earlier.
