Church Troubles

Our only church of choice is the Santisimo Rosario Church at UST. The University of Santo Tomas is the place where it all began, so it is the only place we want to get married in. My brother and sis-in-law, who both work there, tried to reserve the church for us, but they were told that UST doesn't have a calendar for 2013 yet, and that the couple to be married needs to make the reservation in person. So Aleq and I foolishly set out to book the church on May 1, Labor Day. We asked my sister-in-law if it was open on Tuesday, and she said yes. It probably slipped her mind that it was a holiday then.

So we went there bright and early to avoid the Labor Day rallies. When we got there, the parish office was closed, of course. Aleq and I just ended up having lunch at Coffee Indulgence in P. Noval St. - a place of nostalgia for me because I used to go there back in college with other girl classmates for a shake after P.E. classes.

Labor Day morning in Manila - activist flags, banners, rallyists, the beginnings of a traffic jam.

At UST again! Hoping at this point that the church was open.

Church was open, but the office was closed for the holiday. *facepalm* @a_wol & I lunched at Coffee Indulgence instead.

We went back to UST on May 19, but we still weren't able to book a date at the church. The parish office was open, but they told us the same thing - that they don't have a calendar for next year yet and we should come back around September. That's 7 months before our target date, which is stressful and a half! How can we book any suppliers without the church and the exact wedding date? It really threw a wrench in our  plans. They did give us a paper containing the list of requirements, the church fee, and what they offer for the fee. My sis-in-law talked to her contacts and they said they couldn't move because they're waiting for the university's official calendar for next year, because the school's activities are the priority. We are going to have to keep a close watch on UST to book the date as soon as possible. We will be checking in on them and calling them every month as we get closer to September, as well as do everything in our power to be able to book ASAP. It is still very early, but already we have encountered a setback.

Aleq and I aren't getting ourselves worked up about it though. After the church, we shook the disappointment off and had a nice lunch at Jollibee in Asturias St., which was yet another place of nostalgia for us. We always enjoy these trips to our alma mater because it really takes us back to one of the best times in our lives - college. Whatever happens, we're going to get married there.

It was A’s first time to try the Jollibee Hash Brown Burger!

At Jollibee Asturias-Dapitan - site of meals, meetings, lover’s quarrels, study breaks etc. back in college.
