Wedding Reception at the Pergola [Happy Details]

Now that we have finally posted about our happy day, it's time to talk about the details. If you've been following this blog since we got engaged, you probably noticed that though we had a ton of stories to tell, we didn't really post about the specifics. That's because we chose to keep it all to ourselves so our wedding could still have the element of surprise. Well, we can talk about everything now, yay! p.s. Please read our note about suppliers.

Like the church, the reception venue was one of the things that we covered at length in this blog. It's the second most important part of the wedding, and it took a lot of time and effort to pin down. We chose the Pergola, mainly because it was a blank canvass, it fit our budget, it was modern and bright, and it had amenities we liked. Reception Venue - Check!

After a ton of research, several e-mails, a trip to Intramuros, and a trip to Roxas Boulevard, we finally have a reception venue. Yay! Aleq and I went and booked it the Sunday before last, on July 29.

Venue Hunting in Roxas Boulevard

After a somewhat disappointing time venue hunting in Intramuros, Aleq and I decided to check out Roxas Boulevard. Though the area is full of hotels, we decided to skip them. His mom already inquired at all the relevant hotels for us, so we already had their rates and packages. However, we decided to look for a blank-canvass-type venue that would fit into our budget and that we would also have the freedom to customize. And so, after doing research on the Internet, we hied off to Manila last July 8, a Sunday, to have a look around the area. Here's how the day went.

The day started at Pioneer Center, where he and I grabbed lunch at Tokyu before heading out. We made sure we were prepared for a tiring day on the road.

I had the sake (salmon) sushi and red iced tea!

Venue Hunting in Intramuros

I haven't been keeping this blog as up-to-date as I want it to be, but Aleq and I have been a pretty busy couple! Honestly, we're feeling exhausted now, but we want to finalize some key things before we can relax on the wedding planning for a few months. A few weeks ago, on June 30, his family offered to go venue-hunting with us in Intramuros, so we jumped at the chance. (Thank you Medinas!) As it was a Saturday, we encountered a lot of traffic, so when we got there it was already evening. Still, we were able to visit a couple of places in the area, and were even able to talk to the venue people.
